The classy and well-liked Hyundai Verna is a midsize sedan that has been around for a decade. Even after undergoing numerous upgrades, facelifts and modifications, the majority of people have chosen it. In 2020, the most recent model of the fifth generation of the Verna was introduced in India. The following are the main differences between the new Verna and the old Verna:
Exterior Design
Compared to the previous Hyundai Verna, the new model has a sporty and futuristic design. The sedan has a more aggressive appearance due to its larger front grille and sleeker and more stylish headlights. The new Verna also has a lower hood and a longer wheelbase, giving it a more refined appearance. The lower hood makes this sedan look a little longer. The old Verna, on the other hand, had a design that was more conventional and had a rounder, less aggressive appearance.
Interior Design
The interior of the new Verna is more sophisticated than that of the older model. The infotainment system is housed on a larger touchscreen display and the dashboard is more up-to-date in design. Better and more comfortable are the seats, there is more head and legroom for the passengers. The old Verna, then again, had simple interiors with a more modest infotainment screen and less space contrasted with the new model.
Engine and Performance
The new Verna:
has a choice of two engines, a 1.5-litres petrol engine and a 1.5-litres diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 115 horsepower and 144 NM of torque, while the diesel engine produces 115 horsepower and 250 NM of torque. Both the engines are mated to either a 6- speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The new Verna also comes with a new smartstream G1.6 gasoline engine with Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) Technology that delivers improved and better fuel efficiency and performance.
The old Verna:
came with a 1.4-litres petrol engine and a 1.6-litres diesel engine. The horsepower produced by the petrol engine was between 100 and 123 horsepower, while the diesel engine produced about 126 horsepower. The engines were mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. It did not have the CVVD technology, which ultimately means that the new Verna has a better engine and advanced performance.
Safety Features
Numerous safety features that were absent from the previous Verna are now included in the new model.
New features include:
Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill Start Assist Control and a dynamically oriented rearview camera are among these. In addition, the new Verna has two more airbags than the previous model. The advanced high-strength steel used in the New Verna’s body structure makes it stronger and offers passengers better protection in the event of a crash.
Existing features include:
The old Verna had electronic brake force distribution, dual front airbags and a basic set of safety features that included an Anti-lock Braking System. Even though these features were sufficient at the time, the new Verna provides passengers with significantly more safety and protection.
